Golden Stone Gate. The "Tacot"

Golden Stone Gate. The "Tacot"

The jalopy was born from an idea for a railway line connecting Villefranche-sur-Saône to Tarare in about two hours. In 1896, a public utility law was passed, and work began in 1898.

In 1802, the train nicknamed the "tacot" served around ten small local stations, at a time when cars were just appearing on the roads. Transporting goods and passengers, the tacot created a link between the inhabitants. This little train died out in 1934, in favor of trucks and roads.
